An error is an outright 'mistake.' Though there are some translational 'errors' the Scripture itself is error-free. There are many who would disagree and have over the centuries but in time, science itself has proven The Bible true.

A contradiction presents two different propositions in the same timeframe. This is like an 'oxymoron' - sweet sorrow type of statement. On its face, there are many apparent contradictions in the Scripture. However, with an open mind and deeper study of the verses in question, the answer becomes clear as to what the translations are actually saying - indicating they do not contradict each other.

There have always been those who will emphatically state the Bible is full of contradictions that cannot be resolved and errors about many topics like creation of man vs. evolution. This will not change in our lifetimes so the best approach for each of us is as Paul was inspired to teach us:

1 Thessalonians 5:21King James Version (KJV)

21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

Why were there 52 errors in the Bible?

A:I am afraid there are far more than 52 errors in the Bible. Even if we accept the religious truth of everything in the Bible, there are very, very many scientific and historical errorsin the Bible, as well as contradictions and anomalies. The Bible is a book of faith, not a book of fact.

Which is the best book for explaining all those contradictions in the Bible?

A:There is no single book that attempts to explain all the contradictions in the Bible. The reason is that, while biblical scholars are well aware of contradictions, doublets and errors in the Bible, they choose not to focus on them. When describing a topic or a book of the Bible they may, in doing so, point out contradictions and errors purely within the scope of the issues they are dealing with.'Where God Was Born: A Journey by Land to the Roots of Religion', written by Bruce Feiler, may help understand some of the Old Testament issues.'Jesus for the NonReligious' by John Shelby Spong, provides an insight from the viewpoint of a liberal, retired bishop.

What evidence is there to show that the Bible is inspired?

Some believe that the Bible is the word of God because it was literally told to the authors by God himself, and therefore is infallible. Others believe that the Bible was inspired by God and, although it can contain errors of history and science, it is infallible on matters of faith. There is no evidence of either. The Bible contains many errors of history and science, and is therefore not infallible. It contains many contradictions and inconsistencies on theology, and is therefore not even infallible on matters of faith.

How much of the Bible was inspired by God?

For the Bible to be inspired by God, it ought to be inerrant and without contradictions since God can surely not make any errors. Yet throughout the Bible and in almost every book, there are clear and identifiable errors, whether historical or scientific. There are numerous doublets and biblical contradictions that point to multiple authors writing according to the context and needs of their own times, and not writing perfect copies of God's word. None of the Bible was inspired by God.

The Bible is without error when reading it?

Yes, that's a wonderful book in comparison to other religious books. The Bible does not have any errors, it is perfect in every way. It has the answer to any question you might have. God is perfect, so is the Bible inspired by God It depends what you mean by errors. Typographical errors are the fault of the printer. There are, however, dozens of contradictions.

What is Bible Inerrancy and Bible Infallibility and who follow which?

THE WORD OF GOD IS TRUE AND PURE. Some people say that they have found contradictions in the Bible, but that is only from their own lack of belief...refer to Link that answers so called contradictions.

Is there any conflict in the Bible verses?

Yes, there are many contradictions in the bible. Why not read it and take notes.

Was the Bible written by men?

Yes. Little or nothing in the Bible seems to have been written by women. And the Bible can not have been the work of God. If it had been it would surely not contain the many errors and inconsistencies that it does contain.

Could copyist errors explain some alleged contradictions in the Koran and in the Book of Mormon as well as in the Bible?

While the Bible is known to have been altered throughout history and has errors because of that, the Book of Mormon and Qur'an both claim to be revealed directly to their prophets in recent times, and as such claim to be far more accurate books.

Does the Bible contain errors?

No the bible does not have any errors in it. ___ It depends on who you talk to what answer you are going to get. I believe that there are translation errors, yes, after having it passed down and retranslated so many times by many people, some of which had an agenda and made mistakes or changed things on purpose... although I also think you can still get a lot of good out of it and that there are many incredible truths contained in the Bible. Other people think that it is perfect as is. Other people don't think that it is inspired by God at all.

If the Bible is inerrant then why are there many historical and archaeological errors?

A:Yes, there are numerous historical and archaeological errors in the Bible. We therefore have to decide whether to continue to believe it is inerrant and, if so, what we mean by this. Some would say the Bible is inerrant on matters of faith, but not necessarily on history. Others would say if we find apparent errors in the Bile, then we have misunderstood the text, possibly for many centuries, and must reinterpret it. Of course, others would say that the Bible is the truly inerrant word of God and can not contain errors, and that if we read the Bible with total faith then those errors will just disappear.
