The V8 engines have a timing chain , and I believe the 4.9 L ( 300 cubic inch ) straight
6 cylinder has gears on the camshaft and crankshaft that mesh so it doesn't use a
timing chain or belt
The Ford 4.2 litre V6 engine has a timing CHAIN It is an Over Head Valve / pushrod design engine
No timing belt on the Ford 5.4 litre gasoline V8 engine It has ( 1 ) timing CHAIN to each cylinder head , so there are ( 2 ) timing CHAINS
no,,,,,it has a timing chain,,,,,not a belt ======================================================== And , if by any chance you have the 4.9 liter / 300 cubic inch INLINE 6 cylinder engine , it has a large gear on the end of the camshaft which meshes with a smaller gear on the end of the crankshaft , so it doesn't have a timing CHAIN or timing BELT
I have a 1990 e150 and it has 2.
need timing on 89 e 150 van
the fuse is in the dash behind the overdrive switch
Check to see if your vehicle jumped timing.
on the top of the engine compartment firewall
timing that jumps, usauly is motor turns over but does not fire. Or motor back fires, either out of carberator or muffler/tail pipe. you can also get a timing light, and point it at the timing metal indercator, just above the the pulley on your engine.
depending on the year, it is in front of engine on top of timing chain cover EEC V, you better make sure you know how to index the CMP Housing/synchronizer assembly at hall effect sensor element properly or bad things could happen
12qts with the torque converter drained. It will be far less if you have just removed the pan and filter.
Check selector switch and wiring take it to the shop and find out its probably old.
