That year has 2 of them and they are screwed into the exhaust system / pipes.
From my experience, the only oxygen sensor that works correctly is the one from the dealer.
It is screwed into the exhaust pipe close to were the pipe bolts to the engine. It is about 3 to 4 inches long with an electric wire pluged to it.
After the catalytic converter.
02 sensor circuit, no activity detected (sensor 1)
on the downpipe of the exhaust.

There are several 02 sensors on that vehicle depending if it's a 4 or 6 cylinder and they are all threaded into the exhaust system at various points.

The 2002 Chevy Cavalier 02 sensor can be found attached to the air cleaner housing. The O2 sensor will be on the back side of the air cleaner housing.
