It is possible to buy a Playstation3 60GB through Amazon. A person could also buy from GameStop or another video game and console reseller. eBay is another option.

Yes, provided it has the necessary backwards compatibility (like the original 60GB PS3).
4 if you have a 60gb. 2 if you have a 20gb, 40gb or 80gb
Only on the 1st generation of the PS3 which is 80GB, you can't play them on the 40GB one though
40GB came out in October 2007. This was the PAL and NTSC version. The 60GB version came out NTSC on November 2006 and the 60GB version PAL came out on march 2007. The 80GB NTSC came out on August 2007.
It Depends what gb ps3 you have. To play ps2 games you have 2 have a 40gb or a 60gb
The 60GB PS3 is the same as the other versions other than that it has backwards compatibility, meaning that it can play PSone and PlayStation 2 games. The 60GB was the first version to come out - the more recent 40GB, 80GB and 160GB versions do not have backwards compatibility.
Which version is better is up to you, depending on where you live you have the following options: PS3 80GB (US) 80GB HDD, Card Reader, Backwards Compatible with PS2 games, 1 free game (Motorstorm) PS3 60GB (discontinued, search the stores if you want one) 60GB HDD, Card Reader, Backwards Compatible with PS2 games, 2nd controller, 2 games for free (Resistance and Motorstorm) PS3 40GB (Worldwide) 40GB HDD, No Card Reader, Not Backwards Compatible I won't write about the 20GB since you probably can´t find one anymore.
