A single overhead camshaft engine can have either one or two cylinder heads. The "single" indicates the number of camshafts per head, not the total number of camshafts.
single over head camshaft or sohc
That would be called a SOHC engine (Single Over Head Cam)
Single Over Head Cam or SOHC. Though i should point out it is mounted on top of the cylinder head inside the valve cover.
a leak in a head gasket could cause coolant to go into only one cylinder.
Most of the times when you have low compression on one cylinder it's an indication that the head gasket is blown. If more than one cylinder has low compression and is hard to start the you most deffinatly have a blown head gasket
No , the 4.6 liter SOHC engine in a 2004 Lincoln Town Car has ( 2 ) timing CHAINS ( one chain going to each cylinder head on the engine )
Coolant leaking into any cylinder is a clear indication that the head gasket has blown. Especially being that your engine is an inline-4, there is only one head and only one gasket.
THE ONLY WAY TO TELL IF THE CYLINDER HEADS ARE BAD IS BY REMOVING AND INSPECTING THEM.(NO ONE IS THAT GOOD AS TO BE ABLE TO TELL WITH OUT LOOKING) THE NORMAL PROBLEMS THAT YOU GET THAT ARE CYLINDER HEAD RELATED ARE NOT ALWAYS DUE TO A BAD CYLINDER HEAD.
The Ford 4.0 liter SOHC , V6 engine has ( 3 ) timing CHAINS . There are two at the front of the engine and one at the back of the engine going to the passenger side cylinder head
If DOHC the spark plugs are centered in the cylinder head. If SOHC, they're closer to the front. If DOHC, your upper timing cover has an access panel through which you can see two cam gears; if SOHC, there is no such access panel but the shape of the cover suggests one round gear at the top.
If your Cylinder head is visibly cracked then you will need a new one
Four cylinder, does not have one. Six cylinder, it is on the driver side end of the rear cylinder head.Four cylinder, does not have one. Six cylinder, it is on the driver side end of the rear cylinder head.
