Yes. It will make the truck less aerodynamic. It was give the truck the shape of a large hatchback in the rear. This design is very unaerodynamic because it creates a large vacuum behind the vehicle which wants to pull the vehicle backwards and the engine must work harder to overcome this vacuum. Trucks are already aerodynamically horrible, sometimes twice as bad as a car. It will make a difference, however it may be small enough that you will not notice it in the short run. In the long run you will end up spending more on gas however. It all depends on the shape and weight of the camper shell.
14mpg
I have a 1979 gmc camper special with a fairly heavy nine and a half foot camper on it. I get 10 miles to the gallon maybe 11 with a tail wind.
The color of paint does not affect gas mileage in any way.
Yes, the faulty power steering pressure switch does affect the gas mileage. It will give a wrong reading of the gas mileage. It is therefore important to fix it when it is faulty.
12 to 16 mpg depending on weather and towing.
Volkswagens are known for their comparably high gasoline mileage. I don't know much about their mileage these days, but the classic Volkswagen Beetle and Camper of the '60s used to get an average of 30 mpg.
