Are the clues that indicate a chemical change always reliable?

Some indicators of a chemical reaction are:- change of color- change of odor- release of a gas- change of the temperature- change of the viscosity- formation of a precipitate- change of general appearance- possible explosion - possible chemiluminescence - formation of new compounds

Can a chemical change produce heat?

yes it can they can nharm you a lot and make you hav different sort of allergies

Is hydrochloric acid reacting with sodium hydroxide to produce salt water and heat a physical or chemical change?

chemical as it is a permanent change and looks nothing like the starting reactant!

Is body heat a chemical or physical change?

Neither. Body heat is a result of chemical changes, but it's not itself a chemical change.

Do a chemical reaction produce heat and light?

Chemical reactions can produce heat and energy but not all chemical reactions produce them. Exothermic reactions produce heat and energy (possibly in the form of photons/light), while endothermic reaction absorb them.

What is an effect of a chemical change?

A chemical change is when substances become new substances that cant go back to its physical properties (the ability to participate in chemical reactions). Chemical changes usually absorb or let off heat. Often, a second chemical change is needed to reverse an initial chemical change. Is burning gasoline in a lawnmower a physical or a chemical change?

Any burning is a chemical change. When gasoline (mostly a hydrocarbon called octane) burns, or combusts, it reacts with oxygen in the air to produce water vapor, carbon dioxide, and a bunch of heat energy, which your lawn mower engine harnesses to do work (turn the blade.)
