if the crank sensor is bad it does not tell the computer that the crank is turning it will not fire up the engine.

It sure can.
when did Chevy vortec come out
in my 98, Chevy siverado, c1500 2wd, 5.7L vortec, I found it located to the left (passenger) side of the manifold, near the throttle body. It can be identified by the vaccum line coming out the left side of the sensor, leading to the Vortec air box.
Its together with the mass airflow sensor(maf). On the top of the air intake tube.
It's located in the distributor under the rotor.
It is the only electronic device that is in the distributor. remove the cap and rotor and you will see it.
It is on the lower right hand side of the throttle body. There are 2 sensor on that side , it is the lower one.
vortec is a brand name Chevy started using on 4.3l motors in 1986.
If it is a Vortec it will be inside the tube running from the intake to the air filter it is a rubber hose with this stuck in it!
No. Check the battery first. Then test for spark, fuel pressure, and test your coils.
No, the 1992 Chevy 350 (5.7L) V8 is not a Vortec engine.
