Yes. It hurts a lot. I am now 40 years old and still have traumatic memories of my mother restraining me while the quack welded this piece of metal into my face. My jaw is dislocated permanently and crooked, as are my teeth. I can to this day only partially close my poor mouth. It is inhumane that this particular form of child cruelty is still lawful. If your kid has their thumb in their mouth, do the humane thing and take them to a child psychologist to find out why, and help teach them positive behaviours.
