yes, its spines are used to help it stabilize
Yes a perch is a small creek fish its fin has a bony spine (it is fun to catch).
I think that the largest fin of a perch is the first dorsal fin, the one that is located on the top of the fish and is spiny.
Spines on the dorsal fin.
Caudal fin, Dorsal fin, Pectoral fin, Ventral fin, and the fin.
There are eight:carcharhiniformes - mouth behind the eyes, nictating eyelids, five gill slits, two dorsal fins, no fin spines, anal finheterodontiformes - five gill slits, two dorsal fins, dorsal fin spines, anal finhexanchiformes six to seven gill slits, one dorsal fin, anal finlaminformes - mouth behind the eyes, no nictating eyelids, five gill slits, two dorsal fins, no fin spines, anal finorectolobiformes - mouth in front of eyes, no nictating eyelids, five gill slits, two dorsal fins, no fin spines, anal finpristiophoriformes - mouth underneath, long snout, no anal finsqualiformes - mouth underneath, short snout, no anal finsquatiformes - mouth at front, flat body, no anal fin
The marine Lionfish and several species of Stonefish have deadly poisonous glands under their dorsal fins. When the dorsal fin is pressed down the poison is injected/forced into whatever pressed the fin down. (Usually a foot).
The fin on the back of an orca is called the dorsal fin.
The dorsal fin is the fin on the back of a fish, for example the typical triangular fin on the back of a shark is its dorsal fin.
It hides, it's got armor plates, and the dorsal and pectoral fin spines have poison glands at the base.
the female orca's dorsal fin is curved and the males dorsal fin is straight
From my experience, yes. The dorsal fin of a fish, such as a sunny, are comprised of spines to hold the fin erect. They are very sharp, and can be painful to grab onto. However, if you smooth the dorsal fin down (by starting at the edge closest to the head when grabbing hold and sliding the fin down with your hand towards the tail) you should be okay.
On a dolphin and most fish the fin behind the dorsal fin is the tail fin. Some fish, such as knife fish, have no dorsal fin or tail fin. Dolphins of course are mammals, not fish.
No, a dorsal fin from a fish is on its back area.
