No. 6 weeks at the earliest

This answer is inaccurate. The earliest I have heard it picked up is at 5 1/2 weeks. It is very difficult to pick up on a vaginal ultrasound, and may not be an accurate heartbeat rate, but it is possible for a heartbeat to be located and heard earlier than 6 weeks.

Yes, the heart begins beating by 6 weeks. I saw my son's heart beating for the first time at 7 weeks, and heard it on the Doppler at 11.
