Answers to this questions are unfortunately going to be more opinion then actual answers. Because, let's face it, not everyone believes the same things. Some believe that as soon as the two "parts" come together at the moment of conception, that the resulting genetic material has a soul. Others believe that there is no such thing as a soul. Most people though believe something between the two. I myself believe that most people earn their souls by age 5. (Yes, I believe that we earn our souls through good deeds).
The only definitive answer I can really give you is to say that in several places The Bible mentions life (and the soul) as breathing. No breath no life. Ex. Genesis 2:7 "and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul". Other references are Ezekiel 37:10, I Kings 17:17-21, and James 2:26. Since a fetus doesn't breathe it doesn't have a soul, according to biblical definition.
And the pope himself (I believe in the 1600's) said that a fetus is not a person until 120 days (18 weeks/4 months).
Hope this helps at least a little.

Baha'is believe that humanity's time on earth is for the spiritual development of the soul, similar to how a fetus in the womb develops the physical attributes needed for this existence. In the spiritual world the soul will either be nearer to, or further from, God depending upon the soul's progression in this life. "Heaven" is nearness to God, while "hell" is distance from God.
