No it does not catch fire, I have several glass sculptures on my windows, I'm assuming these are on the inside of the windows, unless your inside temp inside the home gets to the point of high heat, then it will or could melt. But no worries, they are very safe.
The point of view in hidden window mystery is the first person, Nancy who searches for the stain glass window that disappeared.
It depends how fast the bird is travelling, the size of the bird (including weight), what type of window it is (single, double glazed, etc), the angle and point of impact and the power transmitted through the glass.
At the point of impact, the glass immediately infront of the projectile is powerded. This causes localized stress in the rest of the sheet, as can be seen by the spider web around the hole. The rest of the cracks radiating from the site are where the residual energy from the impact are distributed.
Raise the glass and prop it safely in the open position. This reveals the struts that operate the window. At this point it should be clear to you how to unbolt and replace them.
The BB didn't have enough power to shatter the glass but did have enough power to crack the glass from the point of impact. The energy traveled in an outward circle towards the inside of the window. Chipping off a piece.

If the goalkeeper catches the ball and if the entire ball crosses the line, it is deemed a goal.
when a bullet strikes the glass pane with a high velocity, the larger part of the glass plane do not get enough time to share the momentum due to inertia of rest and only that part which is in contact of the bullet is blown off according to the law of conservation of momentum But when a slow moving stone strikes the glass plane a larger part of the glass is able to share the momentum and therefore it smashes the glass
If it is a vent window (the part of the window that slides) prices aren't too bad. You can remove it and take it to a local glass shop. Prices can range from $30 up. Completely depends on the type of glass, size, and style. If it isn't a vent window a professional installer will need to come out to remove it. So at this point the price goes wildly up. So you'll be adding the installer's labor to the cost of the window repair. Expect double to triple the cost of being able to take the vent window in yourself.

Frost forms on windows during cold weather when the temperature of the glass surface drops below the freezing point of water, causing water vapor in the air to condense and freeze on the window.
Point the fan out of the window for better air circulation.
