Why would the vet not put a splint on a green stick fracture?
unless the fracture was so small it would heal quickly (a week or two) there would be no reason not to splint it. if a splint was necessary, and the vet wouldn't splint the fracture, go to a different vet.

Your question is not clear. Fractures are classified first as to whether they are opened (bone sticking out) or closed. Other ways of describing them are: transverse, simple, green stick, compound, comminuted, spiral, oblique, impacted, fissure and advulsion. Green stick fractures look as if a branch that is green and growing was broken but it was hard because it wasn't dry. As far as how fast they will heal does depend on how close the two ends are together but the doctors do put them as close together as possible. See link below for a diagram:

hello,yes you can put it in a cast because at the moment i have fractured my hairline and the doctor put my ankle in plaster all the way up to my knee. It helps support the ankle and you must not put any weight on it once it is in the cast though. Hope this helps.
