No, they are warm blooded mammals with fur like rabbits and mice. They come in various varieties: long haired, smooth and abyssinian - where their longish fur splits in whorls: maybe one on their head and a couple on their bodies - like little whirlpools of fur - tho the rest of their bodies are still covered in fur too. The Abyssinian is particularly prized among guinea pig fanciers.
