Look inside the toaster when it is toasting. The wires that go back and forth and glow red during toasting are resistors, there is one of these wire resistors on each side of each slot to provide the heat that does the toasting.

The wire of these resistors is made of an alloy called Nichrome, made of Nickel and Chromium, that has relatively high resistance. Nichrome is also used in wirewound resistors in electronic devices.

Power delivered by 10ohms resistor and 25volt?

The power dissipated by a resistor is E2/R .If the "25volt" is the potential difference (voltage) between the ends ofthe resistor, then the resistor dissipatesE2/R = (25)2/10 = 62.5 watts .That's quite a fair amount of power ... more than you could expect to dissipatefrom a typical carbon composition resistor. This particular resistor is somethinglike a heating coil in a toaster or a large acquarium, for example.

How does the toast know when to pop the toast?

The toaster contains a variable resistor (timer knob on the outside) that changes the charge rate of the capacitors. When the capacitors are fully charged, the release the toast.

Do components always use up the same amount of energy?

Of course not. The wire coil in a toaster is designed to dissipate a lot more energythan a quarter-watt resistor in a portable radio does. And if it doesn't do that, thenyou need a new toaster.

What is the current running through a resistor of 9 ohms with volts of 90?

I = E / RIf the voltage across the resistor is 90 volts, and the resistance of the resistoris 9 ohms, then the current through the resistor is90/9 = 10 Amperes.Don't try this at home! The power dissipated by the resistor is E2/R = (90)2/9 = 900 watts. That's comparable to the power (heat) dissipated by a small toaster. A common composition resistor will get hot and possibly explode if it's asked to dissipate that kind of power.

What models of toasters are there?

How does electrical energy produce a form of energy we use?

It can be run through a resistor to produce heat, as in a convector heater, tumble dryer, toaster. It can be used to run electric lights, and it can be used to drive electric motors that produce mechanical energy.

Can my toaster oven cook a bagel better than a traditional toaster?

If we're not talking about a toaster than has extra-wide slots, the answer is yes. When trying to pry a bagel out of a traditional toaster, the toaster usually wins. A toaster oven eliminates this daily tug-of-war.

When you use a toaster why does toast pop up and the bread disappears?
