Generally if the water pump goes this can cause the cambelt to wear faster than normal, plus considering the life of a cambelt, wouldn't you rather make sure that your motor DIDN'T break a piston and valve? In saying that, if you have just done the cam belt, don't bother.
cambelt should be changed at 70,000 miles , i was quoted £360 at Renault main dealer for cambelt change only , but had cambelt plus water pump changed for £357 at an independent garage.

timing chain is inside the timing chain cover which is located between block and water pump. the water pump mounts to the front of timing case There is a cover that is behind the water pump... The timing chain is under that cover.
