A window air conditioner must be fitted in the window. The back end generates hot air and some drip water. Some can fit in a wall but still the back half is outside.
The window air conditioner does not have to be on the window. It just has to be in proximity to the window. The vent pipes and fans work best if there is an opening on the wall.
Room Air Conditioner...........
if the compressor is Running you are low on freon, if its not then you have a electrical problem
Absolutely. If you leave the doors open, the air conditioner will need to work over capacity as you are allowing warm air into the area. As well as warm air entering, you are allowing the cooled air to exit. Having the doors open means that the air will not cool to the temperature you have set the air conditioner to, and it will be using far more electricity than it usually would with the doors closed.

After several seasons a window air conditioner will smell musty or like mildew. When the ac is first turned on, the smell is strong but goes away in about 1 minute. The older the ac is, the stronger the smell. It is possible to clean and clear the smell but requires much effort and some knowledge. A pressure washer will do the trick. The back of the ac is aluminum and very delicate. The control panel should not get wet. Wait 24 hours before reinstalling. Itβs a pain to do but worth it!
You can move your window air conditioner anywhere you want to put it as long as it sits in the window.
