How can you get the mold out of your Frigidaire 8000 BTU window room air conditioner you don't want to pay the 150 to send it to the shop for a cleaning?

After several seasons a window air conditioner will smell musty or like mildew. When the ac is first turned on, the smell is strong but goes away in about 1 minute. The older the ac is, the stronger the smell.
It is possible to clean and clear the smell but requires much effort and some knowledge. A pressure washer will do the trick. The back of the ac is aluminum and very delicate. The control panel should not get wet. Wait 24 hours before reinstalling. It’s a pain to do but worth it!

∙ 16y agoWhen you find out let me know. In the meantime I will be letting Frigidaire know about this problem. Happend with mine also in only 1 year. Have a 5 year warranty.
