Does an adult need God parents in order to be baptised in the Christian faith?

Nothing in the fundamental of Christianity require God Parents. That is largely church tradition and may vary from church to curch. To my best understanding Catholics and Lutherans have no tenents requiring a God Parent for an Adult.
