They don't cough, they vomit. Unless you mean coughing up. Cholera is dehyrdration of the system linked to diahrea and vomiting.

by being cough on by a person with the measles
Cholera spread by fecal oral route. So cholera mainly spreads through infected water source. It may spread by houseflies and by hands through contamination of food articles.
If the infected person sneezes close to an un infected person Cholera is caused by a bacterium called Vibrio cholerae. A person gets cholera by drinking water or eating food infected with the bacterium. Once swallowed, it settles in the lining of the small bowel and releases a toxin (poison) that can cause the body to flush liquid into the small bowel, resulting in watery diarrhea. The bacterium that causes cholera is usually transmitted by water contaminated with human feces, but it can also be transmitted by ingesting contaminated food, especially raw or undercooked seafood and shellfish. Nost people infected with cholera have no symptoms, yet they carry the bacteria for few weeks, excreting them slowly into the water supply.
Normally cholera is caught by drinking infected water or eating food that has been contaminated by a person infected with the bacteria (not washing their hands properly).

Any one can be infected with Whooping Cough/Pertussis. Babies are the most susceptible though.
My great great grandmother was infected with cholera on the Oregon Trail because she drank dirty water.
Whooping cough is caused by inhalation of the airborne droplets of someone infected with pertussis which is a virus. A person with pertussis who coughs or sneezes around an unvaccinated person may spread the disease readily.
The most convenient cure for cholera is preventing it from occurring in the first place. If a person is infected, the cure for cholera involves treatment with fluid replacement and possibly antibiotics. If treatments for cholera are started in a timely manner and in adequate volumes, a cure for cholera is possible in greater than 99% of cases.
On the Oregon Trail, to cure Cholera they would give the infected person laudanum (an opium tincture useful in combating the disease). If the travelers didn't have laudanum, they would increase fluid and salt intake to prevent dehydration, and give the person lots of rest.
Whooping cough(or pertussis) is caused by a bacteria called Bordetella pertussis. When an infected person coughes or sneezes, the bacteria moves through the air. This is the reason Pertussis is an extremely contagious disease.
