A common test for nitrate ion is with diphenylamine.
About two weeks to a month depending in your size
test
It fizzes
If you mean Sn2+ it is known as Tin(II) ion in the stock system or stannous ion in the old naming system.
It is not the anions (e.g. iodide) that are responsible for the flame test color, rather the cations such as sodium ion, potassium ion and calcium ion give you different colors.
someone told me rubbing alcohol will destroy the residue. You can even put it in the washing machine with your laundry, i was told no more then 4 teaspoons. i used it on my clothes, my shoes, and my id's for my visit. I being the stoner idiot forgot to use it on my glasses and thats what they like to test so i failed. i'm also canadian so these tests may vary depending on where you are, but it seemed like glasses or jewellery were what they wanted to test and if u werent wearing either of those it was shoes. It was a simple test with ionized cloth they let you test the area of their choicing while they watch for any funny business you might be trying to pull. putting your clothes into a sealed plastic bag after been washed until your ready to wear them cant hurt either22

Flame coloration is a test for the metallic ion. When a metallic ion is heated in a flame, it absorbs energy and then emits light at specific wavelengths, producing characteristic colors. The nitrate ion itself does not directly contribute to the color of the flame test.
A simple qualitative test is the flame test: barium has a pale/apple green color.
