It works to help with an infection in your teeth or gums. I was having really bad tooth pain last week, went to the Dentist & he prescribed Amoxicillin to take away the infection in my gum behind my tooth which has really helped tremendously. No more pain & swelling has gone down in the past few days- Thank Goodness!

Maybe because this type of drug does not heal that sort of thing. If you try other things which are actually used to heal that stuff then it will work. Its just the case of you using the wrong medicine to heal something like that or it could be something worse, so I consider going to see a professional.

Abscessed tooth is clearly a type of infection in the mouth. It forms a collection of puss ( a concoction of dead tissue, live and dead bacteria, or white blood cells) which is Infection results in a collection of pus (dead tissue, live and dead bacteria, white blood cells) which is accompanied by swelling of the tissues within the tooth. This causes a painful toothache. The pain is normal when the body is dealing with an infection; it's a type of mechanism that tells us that something is wrong with our body. In this case, toothaches occur when someone has an abscessed tooth.

Antibiotics will help the pain in the long term, but for the current pain, take ibuprofen or whatever your dentist prescribed. If it's still very painful, call your dentist.
