Most metal recyclers will take a catalytic converter, but be aware that Federal and State law enforcement is now requiring tracking information whenever someone tries to sell them. Stealing catalytic converters has become an industry for criminals and law enforcement has been watching closely.
There are two sets of oxygen sensors on late model GM trucks. There are dual catalytic converters, one on each pipe coming off of the engine. In front of the catalytic converters are the first set of oxygen sensors. These sensors check the exhaust gases to see how the engine is performing. Based on the gases, the sensors send a signal to the computer telling whether to richen or lean out the air/fuel mixture. This insures optimal performance and fuel mileage. After the converters is another set of oxygen sensors. These sensors check the exhaust gases for cleanliness after having passed through the converters. These sensors don't directly affect engine function, instead they measure how well the converters are working. If a converter is no longer working properly or is clogged, they will lean out the engine so it will continue to function for a while, causing the 'check engine' light to come on. This is probably too much information, but I just wanted to be helpful. -Neal C.-
no if theres a hole , it broken . why is it over heating and how do you know its over heating, you cant look at it?
Not much info to go on but I'm assuming the vehicle has three 02 sensors, one after each bank of cylinders on that V6 and one after the catalytic converter. Bank 1 sensor 2 would be the 02 sensor after the catalytic converter. This B1 S2 monitors the catalytic converter activity. It could be the catalytic converter is at fault. It would be of help to know what the code # was.
A noun clause is a group of words based on a noun or a pronoun that includes a verb but is not a complete sentence. Examples of a noun clause as direct object. We saw what you did.I don't know how it happened.I know who wrote that story.
catalytic converter is probably clogged
Know that it is illegal to remove the converters. Also know that the engine will not perform correctly with the converters removed.
not if you stright pipe it!
I want to know how many catalytic convertes are on a 2002 ford taurus?
Walk outside, get down on your knees, look under the truck, and count how many converters you see.
1-3 it depands on the year
I'm not sure about rhodium, but i know that catalytic converters with platinum contain about 3-7 grams of platinum per converter.
Sure you can bypass it. But know that it is illegal and the engine will not run properly when you do this.
I have a 97 Impreza, and it should have 3 catalytic converters, but I took one off, and never put it back on, and my car runs just fine, so my answer is don't worry about it.
You look underneath and count themYou look underneath and count them
Depending on what year vehicle you have, with 1996 and newer the check engine light will illuminate and spit out codes like P0420 and P0430.
Not sure if it applies to you.... The last 3 incidents I know of are basically faulty catalytic converters. Replace it.
I know it is a federal requirement on any gasoline vehicle made after 1975.I know it is a federal requirement on any gasoline vehicle made after 1975.
