The first sign to look for is a bulge. If the bulge flattens out when u lay down or press on it then it does require medical attention but its not an emergency but should definitly be looked at. If the bulge does not flatten out then it need immediate medical attention. Signs of having a hernia are pain mostly, it could be dull and achy or sharp and sudden in some cases its both. It will hurt more throughout the day, if you are standing for long periods of time, if you are exerting yourself too much or even when you are using the restroom. Those are the main times u will feel pain, also u may feel a weakness or pressure in your groin area. If you believe you may have a hernia the best option is to get checked out by a doctor.

Saying *Hi There* is a nice way to greet someone. It is a sign of respect and good manners. Anybody can say hi there and not know what it means. But it's good to say *Hi There* when you meet new people so they have respect for you.

You know by visiting a doctor. He will tell you if your hernia requires operation.
The different kinds of hernia are listed below: * Congenital hernia: occur in babies, present from birth. * Inguinal hernia: common in sportsmen, involves part of the bowel protrudibng into the groin * Hiatus hernia: involves the stomach, where it enters the chest cavity via the hiatus. * Incarcerated hernia: where the hernia has swollen up. * Reducible hernia: one that can be manipulated back into place easily, much like a dislocated joint can be repositioned with relative ease. * Irreducible hernia: can't be returned to its original position without surgical intervention. * Strangulated hernia: potentially fatal, as it means the bood supply has been cut off by the hernia. There are even more types, each with their own subtle variations. These can be viewed from the link. [source: adapted from First Aid, by Geddes and Grosset]
If a doctor told you this, I'd suggest you get a second opinion. The only cure that I know of for a hernia is surgery.

I Don't Know Anybody Else was created on 1990-12-18.
Yes. There are different types of hernia. One can be next to your belly button. One can be around your belly button. I don't know about the other types.
Go see a doctor ASAP.
Yes, but unfortunately the only way I know of is through surgery. :( Sorry...
