How do you treat Fetal Alcohol Syndrome?

You don't treat it - you prevent it. Fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) is a serious health problem that tragically affects its victims and their families, but that is completely preventable. Causing a child to suffer from fetal alcohol syndrome is really nothing short of child abuse and it lasts for life. Babies born with FAS tend to weigh less and be shorter than normal. They usually suffer from: • smaller heads • deformed facial features • abnormal joints and limbs • poor coordination • problems with learning • short memories Victims of fetal alcohol syndrome often experience mental health problems, disrupted school experience, inappropriate sexual behavior, trouble with the law, alcohol and drug problems, difficulty caring for themselves and their children, and homelessness.

FAS is characterized by abnormal facial features, growth deficiencies, and central nervous system (CNS) problems. People with FAS might have problems with learning, memory, attention span, communication, vision, hearing, or a combination of these. These problems often lead to difficulties in school and problems getting along with others.

Alcohol does mental and physical harm to a prenatal child and therefore it is referred to as a?

Drinking alcohol when pregnant can cause harm to the unborn fetus and is therefore classed as a poison during pregnancy. The alcohol can cause the fetus to be deprived of oxygen and nutrition; it could also cause fetal alcohol syndrome after birth, which can lead to mental and physical deformities.

What are some effects of alcohol on the fetus?

I assume that this question means "What are the harms caused to you and your baby while drinking alcohol while you are pregnant?" The harms to the mother while drinking alcohol while pregnant are not very significant, unless she drinks excessively. The harm to the child however are severe. Even a single beer during pregnancy greatly increases the chances of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS), which causes huge amounts of developmental problems in the foetus, and will affect the child for the rest of his or her life. In some countries, drinking while pregnant CAN endanger the mother, as it is seen as being socially and legally unacceptable.
