An orchid seed is very small and is not called anything other than a seed. The orchid seed is found in a pod which would be considered the bean though it is not usually edible. Because the seed is found in a pod and is the part that can reproduce the plant, it could be classified a kernel. This would fit with the dictionary definition but I have never heard it called anything but a seed. The orchid pod that is most common to us is the vanilla bean. You use the seeds as flavoring.
