It does not save to be baptised but, you have to be baptised in order to be with god

Roman Catholic AnswerYes, Baptism saves you, by washing away all your sins, and the punishment due to those sins. It makes you a child of God, and infuses you with supernatural, saving grace.

Biblical Answer:

No, baptism is a symbolic 'burial' of the old self and the rising out of the water as a new creature. It is a necessary step after full repentance and the receiving God's Holy Spirit to follow Christ our perfect example who brings Salvation.

2 Corinthians 7:10New International Version (NIV)

10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

If you believe the gospel, that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that his death was for your sins, you fulfill the first requirement of baptism, believing. (Mk. 16,15-16).

If you have heard the teachings of Jesus concerning becoming his disciple, whether from other people or through reading the gospels, and are ready to live according to his words and be his disciple, repenting from fornication, unforgiveness,

etc., you fulfill the next requirement of baptism, repentance. (Acts 2,37-39)

Nobody who is unclean can enter heaven (Rev 21,27). Jesus shed his blood for you and it alone can cleanse the corruptness of sin from us. And this is the purpose of baptism. If you fulfill the requirements of baptism, and can make the baptismal oath sincerely by confessing Jesus as your Lord, your sins will be forgiven in baptism and you will be saved, having eternal life.

A valid baptism requires immersion. The word Baptismo

means 'to dip or immerse'. The ritual cleaning of the ashes of the Red Heifer is prophetic concerning a baptism (Num

19).

With the ashes of the Red Heifer:

1. The ashes are mixed with living water and given to a clean person who sprinkles with hyssop.

1a. Jesus committed the preaching of the Gospel to those who received his Spirit and are themselves clean in his sight by baptism and living according to his word. They preach his death on the cross.

2. The person is sprinkled on the third day.

2a. The disciples preach through the water of the Spirit of his death and resurrection on the third day.

3. Only those who receive the sprinkling on the third day are to be sprinkled on the seventh day.

3a. Only those who receive our message concerning his death and resurrection on the third day come to the day of their baptism.

4. On the seventh day they are again sprinkled with the water mixed with the ashes.

4a. On the day of the covenant entrance(baptism),

the person is then again charged concerning living according to the words of Jesus as they again hear about his death. In this death we are then to be baptized.

5. On the seventh day they must wash their clothes.

5a. On the day of baptism, the person must have repented or repent.

6. On the seventh day they are fully immersed in a mikvah.

6a. On the day of baptism, the person is fully immersed in a baptismal tank, a completely full bathtub, a lake, a river, an ocean, etc.

7. After sunset, the beginning of the eighth day, the person immersed is clean.

7a. By baptism we receive the circumcision of Christ, and as Jesus was raised on the eighth day (the day after the Sabbath) we also are raised with Christ, our old man being buried (Rom 6,2-5).

Concerning the Red Heifer, if anything was not done exactly as commanded by the LORD, the person will not become clean. Anyone who touches this water in an unperscribed

way becomes unclean.

Concerning baptism, if anything was not done exactly as Jesus commanded his apostles and church, the person will not become clean through baptism, his sins will not be forgiven. Instead, anyone who touches this water of baptism by changing it or changing its requirements in an unperscribed

way becomes unclean. And this is the greatest uncleanness of all times. (Perverting the Gospel Gal. 1)

Num

19,20

But the man that is unclean and

does not purify himself, that soul shall be cut off from among the congregation, because he has defiled the sanctuary of the LORD. The water for impurity has not been sprinkled upon him; he is unclean.

Just as the person who does not perform this cleansing will not enter the sanctuary and must be cut off from the congregation, so are those who do not receive the third day sprinkling (the gospel ) and the seventh day sprinkling incl. immersion are not saved and will not enter the heavenly sanctuary, but is cut off from the congregation.

Num

19,21

The one who sprinkles the water which is for impurity shall wash his clothes. The one who touches the water for impurity shall be unclean until evening. (This is the person who changes the requirement for baptism)

All which the unclean person touches shall be unclean; and the soul that touches him shall be unclean until evening. (This is a strong warning from God. Whoever touches such a person becomes unclean (i.e.

taking his advice or hearing him))

Understanding this, youMUST be baptized to be saved!

Disclaimer: I am aware that opinions on this will vary widely. - No, baptism is just a symbol - it symbolizes purifying your soul. It won't REALLY purify your soul; you must do that yourself, by doing the will of God.

What does baptism do?

Baptism is a way of cleansing yourself in Christianity. When you get baptized, Christians think of it as becoming a new life. As you fall into the water, your old self goes away, and as you get out of the water, your life is renewed. +++++ The baptism which is required for salvation is through the Living Water (Jesus Christ). The Bible frequently says to be baptized in His name and receive the Holy Spirit. There's nothing wrong with water baptism (immersion in water), yet this does not save a person. Salvation is given to us through believing that Jesus is God and putting our trust in Him. The Bible tells us that we need to acknowledge He is God by confessing the Truth with our mouth. By asking Him for salvation, we are acknowledging our sinfulness and that He alone is able to save us. Ask Him to fill you with His Holy Spirit. His Holy Spirit is our seal of salvation. Some reference verses: Acts 8:20, Acts 4:12, Acts 2:38, Acts 19:1-6 - Baptism is immersion. When a person is "baptized," he is completely immersed in something. When a person is "baptized by the Holy Spirit," he is immersed in God's Spirit. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is the literal baptism. Every other baptism pictures, or typifies, the baptism of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:5). There are seven baptisms in total. The six other baptisms include: Moses baptism (1 Corinthians 10:2), John's baptism (also known as "the baptism of repentance" Acts 19:3), the baptism of sufferings (Matthew 20:22; Mark 10:38), the Jewish baptism (Acts 2:38), the Gentile baptism (Matt. 28:19; Acts 8:37-38), and the baptism of fire (Matthew 3:11; Luke 3:16). They all point to the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

What is the reason of baptism?

People are baptized because Jesus was baptized, and baptism is part of the Christian Walk. I Peter 3:21 states: "The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.".
