You need to be an expert shot with any firearm before taking it into grizzly bear country. Most people are not willing to practice enough to attain expert status with any kind of firearm. If you can't consistently put three rapid shots into a four-inch circle at 25 yards from a standing position, forget the shotgun, rifle, and the pistol, and carry bear pepper spray instead. Bear pepper spray shoots a wide pattern that makes it a lot easier to hit your target than with a firearm.
