Best Answer

Actually, It can't be classified as any of them.

Acid is any substance which furnishes H+ or Hydronium(H3O+) in water.

A base is a substance which furnishes OH- in water and alkali is a water soluble base.

But a beetroot won't do any of them. It would simply get swelled up due to absorption of water without affecting it.

Yes it does! The acid that it contains is unknown. What it does is stain things including human skin.

Beets contain oxalic acid. For some people, the oxalic acid can concentrate in their tissues, causing painful crystals of gout, inflammation, and kidney stones.
