Yes. Perception of pain is an individual thing. Some people have much higher pain tolerance than others. Being prepared and knowledgeable (taking classes, reading books) will help. Relaxation techniques, masage, hot showers, etc. will help. Get your partner involved in this, and work with you midwife or nurse during labor. Pain can also be alleviated with medications. Narcotics like morphine or demerol can be given intravenously or as a shot into a muscle to help with the pain. An epidural anesthetic can almost entirely remove the pain. Discuss these options with you obstetric professional (doctor or midwife) before labor.

yes birth etremily hurts some people even die from birth .But most people survive birth only if something is wrong or your not feeling good or something bad you may not survive birth but if you are having children or pregnant you will be fine just pray to god .
Yes, when you give birth it really hurts. Especially when you are giving birth to the babies head and shoulders. After the head is delivered the pain decreases quickly.
Following the birth the pain is similar to menstrual cramps and episiotomy pain (when needed). For most women the joy of having their baby in arms - quickly overrides the pain of childbirth.
