Although children as young as three can remember certain things it is not impossible for you to take your child to New Zealand without traumatizing the child. As far as introducing the child to relatives do it very gently and not all at one time and let your child be with you during this time with the exception of bedtime so that the child will know you are near and will not be deserted or left with strangers.
