Almost certainly not. There are some accusations based on the fact that he bulked up and has had injury problems that steroid users tend to have. The bulking up, however, was pretty normal based on age, coming in the majors as a skinny kid, and putting on some muscle. Furthermore, his consistency would lead one to say no. Except for the year he hit 45 home runs, which, while more than he's ever hit, was not out of his range, he's largely produced the same good numbers throughout his career. Additionally, while more of power hitter in his early years, he became more of a contact hitter once he reached his 30s, with a decline in homers but an increase in batting average, which is the opposite direction of the typical steroid user. Finally, his unselfishness, loyalty to his team, and obvious love of the game make steroid use unlikely

While he doesn't have suspicion on him, he did bulk up a few years during his prime and did hang out with known roider Gary Sheffield while he was on the Braves. Chipper definitely had a career year in 1999 when he hit 45 HRs and won the MVP. Sheffield played for the Braves during the 2002 and 2003 seasons. So, if he used, that's the timeframe. He benefits now since he's put 10 years in since then. 2004 is the last time he hit 30 HRs. Bottom line, unless he pops up as one of the players that tested positive when MLB did confidential testing, he's probably home free. That doesn't mean he didn't use. He claims he didn't, but they all did that.
