No continents don't but tectonic plates on a convergent boundary do, caused by a tectonic plate sliding under another one. The one sliding under will melt due heat from magma after alot of magma builds so does pressure. Its like popping a zit.

Do volcanoes form on diverging or converging plate boundaries more?

Most are found on converging

What are the steps in continent mountain formation?

Continents and mountains are sometimes formed by volcanoes that occur on an arc near a subduction zone. The activity of the volcanoes can cause shifts in the plates that form mountains and lift continents.

Continents that have the fewest volcanoes?

Australia is the continent with the fewest volcanoes.

Where volcanoes occur?

volcano occur in hot spot and diverging boundaries and converging boundaries.

Why are active volcanoes more likely to be found on large continents than small continents?

because large continents are bigger so that means more mountains and some mountains are volcanoes.

Why is converging the most likely to cause a volcano?

At a convergent plate boundary an oceanic plate subducts under a continental plate or another oceanic plate. The subducting plate takes volatiles such as water with it. These volatiles lower the melting point of the mantle rock. Molten material then rises to the surface, forming volcanoes. This is the most common cause of volcanoes on continents. Those that form from the sea floor often rise up to form volcanic islands. In truth, most of the world's volcanoes probably occur at divergent boundaries. However, the vast majority of those remain deep underwater where they are difficult to observe.

What can result from the action of plates at a converging boundary?

At a converging boundary, plates can collide and create subduction zones. This can lead to the formation of mountain ranges, deep ocean trenches, and earthquakes. The pressure and friction from the plates can also cause volcanic activity.

What kind of landforms can destructive plate movement cause?

Mountains, Continents, Volcanoes, Islands, and Fault Lines are the 5 landforms caused by plate movement.

What is the cause of plate tectonics and some of its effects?

Mountains, Volcanoes, and moving continents for a potential Pangaea.Tectonic plates move because they rest on magma which is fluid.

What are two Ways volcanoes Form near converging plate boundaries?

Volcanoes may form where two oceanic plates collide or where an oceanic plate collides with a continental plate.
