you are Harry Potter. If darkness were something, then you'd be asking us "What
happens when you put some light and some darkness in the same place ?"
Darkness is the name we give to a place where there is no light. This is a lot like
the situation with 'silence' ... the name we give to the condition where there is no
sound ... 'cold' ... the name we give to the condition where there is very little heat ...
and 'emptiness' ... the description we give to a piece of space with no things and
no stuff in it.
In order to produce silence, cold, or emptiness, you take something away, and
in order to produce darkness, you take away light. Light has speed. Dark doesn't.
