Although it has been rumored that Diet Soda aids in digestion, it does not. Soda is acidic, so one may think that it would help in breaking down food in the stomach, but the stomach is already filled with acid (mainly hydrochloric acid) which is much more acidic than any soda. If the stomach is already highly acidic, adding something of a lower acidity would not have an affect. If anything, the lower acidity of the soda will cause the acidity of the stomach to be less and actually slow down digestion. Besides, soda, especially diet soda, is not good for you at all.

∙ 14y agoYes, it does. Even though it has less sugar, it still has Sodium compounds, that mess with your metabolism system. Also, it stretches your stomach, meaning you tend to eat more to feel full, meaning - you get bloated.
