Yes Emile did live in Kirkham for a short while. He married a local girl called Jean Mellor who was the daughter of Vic and Connie Mellor, Victor being a well known and respected optician in the town. In 1964 Emile and Jean (Who was his second wife) move down to Stone in Staffordshire and shortly after Jean gave birth to a boy named Michael. It was while Jean was pregnant that Emile went on tour in Scandinavia and found his future third wife not long after. Jean moved back up to Kirkham to be near her parents. While the couple were together Jeans mother, Connie, made a lot of Emile's and the Checkmates stage clothes some of which can be seen on their record covers (The album 'Tracks with Emile ' being one)
