Federal taxes are used to fund public projects for the benefit of the people. They are used for infrastructure and to provide public programs such as programs for the poor or disabled.

Jails and prisons are funded mostly by local, state, and federal taxes. If you work and pay taxes then you fund jails and prisons.

They come from the state. Your employer pays unemployment taxes to the state and the federal governments.

They made taxes so that it is possible for the Government to fund government owned schools, hospitals and anything that isn't private owned. Police forces and firefighters are also included. Any roads or government buildings that needs to be built or fixed also comes out of the federal fund.

So all who pay taxes technically pay or fund the US Military, just as you would fund schools, road repairs or construction, parks and wildlife, bailouts, health care reforms, welfare, Medicare/Medicaid and many others. All soldiers pay taxes so they themselves are paying for themselves.
