The liver breaks down harmful substances as well as non-harmful products such as the deamination of proteins, but the metabolites are put back into the blood circulation. The kidneys then filter these metabolites and other substances out of the blood, returning "cleaned" blood back to the body and harmful substances excreted in water and ultimately urine.

In the kidney, filtration helps to filter out the harmful waste from the urine. They are filtered through nephron and then through pee, they are discarded from the body. In the heart, the blood is purified and the clean blood is transported throughout the body. The processes is called ultrafiltration.

∙ 10y agoIn the kidney's there is a process of filtration where the excess nutrients in the blood stream are filtered throughout a unit in the kidney called the nephron. The excess is eventually sent to the collecting duct and turned into pee while the nutrients that are needed are re-filtered into the blood stream.
