You can, if you have placed the leaves in contact with your tongue, or with something that had the plant's toxins (Urushiol) on it. There's no topical treatment for poison ivy in your mouth except perhaps sucking on ice chips to numb the area. In this unusual case, your doctor might consider a course of prednisone (which I'd recommend he start with an injection). If this in any way comes even a little close to impairing your breathing, off you go to the Emergency room. Poison Ivy works as an allergy works, with all the incumbant dangers allergies present. You can also get it in your mouth or tongue by burning it. The toxins travel in the smoke as well.
prednisone is a corticosteroid, it is not only for poison ivy, it works by decreasing inflammation inside the body, and against certain allergic reactions, since the benadryl and cortisone cream did not help, then the only option left is oral prednisone

Yes if prescribed by a doctor. Dermatologists may prescribe oral prednisone or a topical steroid to help treat poison ivy. However, oral steroids are usually reserved for severe cases as it will usually resolve on its own with proper care.

If you get poison ivy on your tongue, which you can do if you put the leaves in your mouth or are exposed to the smoke from burning poison ivy, you should see a doctor. There's no topical treatment except perhaps sucking on ice chips to numb the area. Your doctor might consider a course of prednisone. The swelling might begin to interfere with your breathing. Then you should get to a hospital for treatment to ensure you don't suffocate while getting over this allergic reaction.
In defense, if a poison dart frog is eaten, it will harm whatever ate it.
