liquids heat, the evaporate to tiny droplets called water vapour. evaporation takes place when heat levels rise into an approx of 20-30C. The higher the heat level is the faster the liquids evaporate. But if you leave something outside like syrup for sometime, it will take much more longer to evaporate since syrup has a substance so much thicker than water.

lets say you have a cup of water that is cold. when the air at roomtemperature hits the glass (look below) the air condenses because it is cold. this forms little drops on the outside of cup. this continues till the water is at room temperature them the water proceeds to evaporate.

(When a temperature is warm molecules spread out and when they are cold they condense.)

Liquids are a collection of molecules or atoms found to be at a liquid state at a certain temperature (usually room temperature).

They are said to be liquid because of how closely the atoms or molecules are collected (solids are tightly packed and gases are losely spread, liquids are somewhere in between).

By heating a substance, you can excite the atoms or molecules because the heat gives them extra energy to move about. By heating the substance, you give the atoms or molecules the opportunity to spread further out (like gases).

For example, water has a boiling point of 100 degrees celcius, which is where it changes from a liquid to a gas because its particles have become 'engergised' enough to become gas-like.

So in conclusion, most liquid do need to be heated to evaporate (to become gases). However some solids sublime (where they go from solid to gas without becoming liquid), like dry ice.

ANSWER

Many liquids will evaporate easily just by being exposed to the open air. Think of laundry on a clothes line. Or spill out some alcohol on a dish. The oceans and lakes are continually evaporating as part of our rain cycle. Heating or exchanging the air (fanning) will make the process go more quickly.

heat helps trehe liquid to evaporate as the kinetic energy of the molecules increases due to which molecules move faster and reach the surface .thus liquid evaporates
