Does homeowner insurance cover a generator when it stops working because the alternator blew and parts are not replaceable for it?

Your generator is considered personal property under the homeowners policy. Check your policy for the listed perils under Coverage C.

If the generator suffered mechanical breakdown as it sounds, you likely wont find that to be a listed peril in your policy. Whether or not it can be repaired doesnt really affect the 'coverage' situation.
