A lot of people seem to have this problem.
I myself have an iPod touch 1st gen that has 3.0 Firmware jailbroken on it. Mine can take as much as a minute to connect to our home wifi. I believe it has something to do with a driver update they did for 1.1.4 to support wpa-enterprise security because before that (1.0-1.1.3) my iPod could connect in literally a few seconds.
