A vision statement indicates who the organization is, what they do, and where they see themselves in the future. The mission statement indicates how they plan on getting there. Thus, a vision statement without a mission statement means nothing unless you can back it up with a clearly articulated plan. That's why the mission statement is so important.
According to Walmart, the mission statement is "Saving people money, so they can live better." This statement is widely publicized in all of the commercials.

Sprite does not have its own Mission Statement, as it is a Coca Cola brand and so it uses the same Mission Statement (Generally it is the company and not the individual brand or product that has something as "big" and far-reaching as a real Mission Statement...brands may have mottoes, slogans and product descriptions). See link below for the Coca Cola Mission Statement.
To be honest, Walmart seems to be rather evasive with the whole mission/vision thing! However, Walmart's vision is the same as its stated purpose: "We save people money so they can live better."1 It can be found on its corporate website. However, I have heard the "world leaders in retail" statement, which I can't find on the website at all.

A market oriented mission statement is one that tries to address the needs of customers that are not so common. This is a different marketing approach where the suppliers try to identify the needs of consumers.
Every company has a Mission Statement. But they are very difficult to write - they should short, clear, vivid, inspiring and concise without using jargon, complicated words or concepts. A Mission Statement is generally included in documents such as Business Plans and Staff Handbooks and can be described as a cross between a company or corporate slogan, or tagline, and an executive summary! A highly successful Mission Statement is both memorable and engaging. A combination of both a company's mission and a company's vision of the future may be included in a Mission Statement. No wonder a Mission Statement is hard to write and there is so much confusion between a Mission Statement and a Vision Statement!
