Do you mean the James Shin Hoo in the Westing Game by Ellen Raskin? Well if you do he is described as an inventor ( who tried to sue Sam Westing for stealing his idea) and also a restaurant owner. This is from the short story, "The Gift of the Magi" by O. Henry right? Madame Sofronie is a dealer in hair goods, and Della is looking for a present from Jim. Here is their conversation from the story: Where she stopped the sign read: 'Madame Sofronie. Hair Goods of All Kinds' One flight up Della ran, and collected herself, panting. Madame, large, too white, chilly, hardly looked the 'Sofronie.' "Will you buy my hair?" asked Della. "I buy hair," said Madame. "Take yer hat off and let's have a sight at the looks of it." Down rippled the brown cascade. "Twenty dollars," said Madame, lifting the mass with a practised hand. "Give it to me quick" said Della. Hope this helps!
