The engine has the same power no matter the transmission. However with an automatic transmission more of the available power is lost due to the torque converter and the transfer of fluid to torque. But in modern cars today it is very little, so get an automatic if that is what you want. A manual transmission does provide more power to the drive wheels but it comes at a penalty. You must shift it yourself.
The automatic transmission, or gearbox, was invented by Oscar Banker. General Motors was the first company to offer it on vehicles.

first is it automatic or manual? first check the major things like the axles to see if one of them is broken. if one is broken then the vehicle will not move. second kia/hyndai who made the ford aspire still cannot make an automatic transmission that is reliable. the dealers all stock the automatic tranmissions for all there new automatic models. that is why they have to offer a 100,000 mile 10 year warranty because they will break. but only after 100,000

The only transmission offered from the Factory with a 350 TPI was the 700-R4. They did not offer a manual transmission due to the torque output of the engine being too much for the transmission.

yes, but it would be cheaper to just buy a manual trans car. Don't believe me? Then your the new village idiot. Have a nice life. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The above answer is a bad answer. You can change it from auto to manual. whether or not its a viable option for you depends on your skills, if you are going to be having a shop do the work, then yes, just buy a different car. to swap you need to obtain atleast.. -manual transmission -clutch -pedal assebly from manual trans car -center console from manual trans car (most likely) -possibly manual trans mounting cross member. -speedo cable should be from the new transmission as it may not be the right length from the automatic, this was the case in my swap. -rear driveshaft from manual trans car as driveshaft is probably different length than auto rear driveshaft -fluids -might as well reseal the trans output shafts while its out of the donor car. then its out with the old and in with the new. you'll have to figure out where the Neutral Switch on the automatic shifter is and short that out so you dont get a CEL you'll have to know how to set the clutch pedal for engagement as well. thats a start. check out Ultimatesubaru.org for a great group of people that can offer a plethora of advise.
Check the fuses and/or brake light switch.
