MM means Millions in the business world...
M means thousands.
K is not typically used in finance.
For example:
$25MM would mean $25 Million where $25M would mean $25 Thousand.
+++
That may be so in America, but not elsewhere. The use of M for 'Thousand' would be potentially very confusing for international trade, journalism or travel used to 'M' = Million whether counting currency units, people or physical dimensions. That use of M is reflected in the ISO-SI measurements system, and IS used to mean million in finance as well as, say, tonnes of goods, in Britain and Europe. East of the Atlantic - and no doubt West of the Pacific - $25M = $25 Million.
No It means Thousand.
The root milli means thousandThe word million makes us think the root milli means million but it actually means a thousand because there is a thousand thousands in a million
1 million a thousand thousand ten thousand hundred half of 2 million 1000000x1 if that's what you mean by names...
Well, it depends on what you mean. It could be 7,002,000, which is seven million two thousand, or it could be 2,007,000,000, which is really two billion and seven million
1 m is 1,000 mm (one thousand mm).Therefore 1 m2 = (1 m) x (1 m) = (1,000 mm) x (1,000 mm) = 1,000,000 mm2.So, there are 1,000,000 mm2 (one million mm2) in 1 m2.
Million. ('thousand thousand')
"M" = thousand (from Roman numerals) "MM" = thousand thousand = million
In Accounting, 'M' stands for 'thousand', and 'MM' stands for 'million' (thousand thousand).
Million. M means thousand. They're Roman numbers.
M = a thousand dollars MM = a million dollars (a thousand thousands)
mil. MM is an abbreviation that may represent one million. M typically represents one thousand, so "MM" literally conveys "a thousand thousand". mil.
"mm" after a number most often means "millimeters".
In Accounting-speak, MM is the symbol often used to represent "million". It comes from the Roman Numeral M for 1,000. M M is a thousand thousand, which is a million.
There are one million mm in a km so one-hundredth of that is ten thousand
no. It means millimetersLowercase "mm" does mean millimeters, but uppercase "MM" is used for millions. "Mille" is Latin for "thousand". So technically MM would be "thousand thousands" or "a million" I have seen $30M used to mean 30-million-dollars but in that example one uses a currency symbol AND an uppercase M. (This is common in financial uses.) I have seen $30k used when describing a salary for example. "k" meaning one-thousand (again using a currency symbol.)The Associated Press Stylebook (for journalists) says that "mm" means millimeter and "million" should be written out.I would also add that the context of the sentence would add to the meaning of the abbreviation used.
Yes, but only generally within the finance industry. MM <=> Thousand, thousand <=> Million (from M in Roman numerals = 1,000)
It has come to mean one million in general usage, although it sometimes used to mean one thousand (coming from the Roman numeral "M" denoting 1,000). One million is abbreviated "MM".
