No, I've yet to find a single comet with a circular orbit. All I've researched have elliptical orbits, and the apogee of that orbit, the point furthest from the Sun, takes them to the Oort Cloud or beyond.

No, most comets do not have a circular orbit in the space between Mars and Jupiter. The majority of comets originate from two regions in our solar system: the Kuiper Belt and the Oort Cloud. These regions are far beyond Mars and Jupiter, and the comets from these regions follow highly elliptical orbits that can take them close to the sun or far into the outer reaches of the solar system.

What does Jupiter clean up or attract?

Large planetesimals from the outer solar system when they are on a trajectory that leads them to the inner solar system. This keeps large enough asteroids and comets from coming into the inner solar system. This was made very aparent during the comet that crashed into Jupiter in the 90's.

Which force is responsible for making planets and satellites travel in near circular orbits?

Gravity and inertia. Inertia keeps the planets moving while the gravity of the sun keeps the planets drawn to orbit in ellipses.

Where are the most of the known asteroids found?

I'm not sure about "most," but a substantial number of them are in the "asteroid belt," a toroidal (doughnut-shaped) region between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. However, there are plenty of asteroids that are NOT in the asteroid belt; many are in irregular orbits zipping around the solar system. Beyond that, there are uncounted numbers of rocks of various sizes in the Kuiper Belt beyond the orbit of Neptune, and we cannot begin to guess how many may be in the more-distant Oort Cloud, the predicted reservoir of long-period comets. We've never actually detected anything in the Oort Cloud; our telescopes aren't even close to being good enough for that. But we're fairly sure that there's stuff out there, because after 4.5 billion years, all of the known comets would long since have disintegrated. SOMETHING keeps dropping new comets into the solar system.

Who keeps an eye on comets that might hit earth?

NASA's Near Earth Objects program is one group that tracks object that pass near the Earth (you might have expected that from the name).

Why don't many asteroids hit the earth?

Even though the planet Earth is very large in comparison to the people who live on it, it is very small in comparison to outer space. It is effectively a small target for comets to hit. And even though the gravitational attraction of the Earth does tend to pull objects such as comets toward it, in most cases the comet (or other object) will still miss, and will then fly past the Earth.

Why should the orbit be circular?

Orbits sould be circular because the centripetal force that keeps objects in circular motion is constant (it is gravity!)

What does the galilean moons have to do with gravity?

Gravity keeps them in orbit around Jupiter.

What keeps all the planets in their place?

the gravity of the sun pulls them in a circular motion.

What force keeps and object in orbit?

Gravity holds an object in a circular orbit.

What is the direction of a body when moving in circular path?

A body moving in a circular path has no fixed direction. Its direction keeps on changing with every step of its motion.

Should Co-Circular Activities be made compulsory?

co circular activities should made compulsory because they keeps your mind fresh and healthy

How does Jupiter keep all its gas together?

Gravity keeps the gasses together. It is the same on Earth; the gravity of Earth keeps our atmosphere together.

Is harlech castle a shell keep?

Well, the buildings are against the wall , which makes it a shell keep however it is not circular , most common shell keeps are circular

Does centrifugal force exist?

No, centrifugal force is fictitious force, peculiar to circular motion, that is equal but opposite to the centripetal force that keeps a particle on a circular path.

How does gravity keep Jupiter's moons in orbit with Jupiter?

yup it also keeps one other planet in place i think........either mars or saturn...........idk

When an object moves in a circular path a force keeps it moving that way. this force is called?
