I know of no vehicle where the engine has to be removed to change a timing belt.
It depends on the motor..if you have overhead cam...then YES. The timing belt has to be removed when the water pump is changed and the cam sprockets have to be set to correct timing when the belt is replaced.
No, it's a chain driven motor, no timing belt.
It is on the nose of the crankshaft. The timing belt has to be removed to access. It is on the nose of the crankshaft. The timing belt has to be removed to access.
The timing belt is located behind the timing belt cover on the front of the engine. To get the cover off the top front motor mount must be removed to gain enough clearance to get it out.
No. It is done in vehicle.
You should have a timing chain not a belt on that 3.0 liter motor. They last 300k or more and rarely ever have to be changed
looking for info on locating water pump and timing belt on 99 subaru outback 2.5 liter motor, hopefully with a diagram...thank you
No, you do not have to replace the timing belt at the same time as the water pump. It is highly recommended because there is no additional labor involved since the timing belt must be removed to replace the water pump.
Needs to be done by a motor mechanic I was quoted £130
Separate issue, if you need too set the timing following a timing belt change or belt slippage then you have to set the mechnical timing of the motor. Go buy a Chilton or Haynes manual which will tell you where the marks are and you can properly set the timing before starting the motor.
The 3.3L has a timing chain. The serpentine belt (accessory belt) is removed by rotating the tensioner down.
On the timing belt side of the motor. On the timing belt side of the motor.
