Best Answer

Bottles usually don't have an expiration date, but it does thicken with time. To keep it lasting longer store it in the fridge.

Try rubbing the nail-polish bottle in your hands (like trying to start a camp fire with a stick.. except just the bottle!) if the layers separate or become too "runny". If the nail polish becomes "chunky" try adding a drop or two of nail-polish remover and shake until smooth.

Shake it once in a while. Then it will last longer, but usually it dries out within 3 years depends on the nail polish brand.

Who makes the nail polish that cracks?

OPI makes it. - - - - - OPI was the company that "reintroduced" crackle polish, but now every nail polish company makes it. It is very easy to make: take regular nail polish and put some alcohol in it. There's already a solvent called ethyl acetate in nail polish. Alcohol and ethyl acetate evaporate at different rates, and this causes the paint film to crack. This would normally be bad, but with crackle nail polish it's the whole point of doing it.

Why does nail polish get thick when the bottle is only half empty?

Nail polish can become thick when the bottle is only half empty due to evaporation of the solvents in the formula. As the solvents evaporate, the polish becomes more concentrated, leading to a thicker consistency. Additionally, exposure to air and temperature changes can also contribute to the thickening of nail polish.
